Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, study, and medical treatment of mental disorders. These include various abnormalities related to mood, behaviour, cognition, and perceptions that affect quality of life.

Initial psychiatric assessment of a person typically begins with a case history and mental status examination. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specialised in mental health.

DEPRESSION – Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person’s thoughts, behavior, feelings, and sense of well-being. People with a depressed mood can feel sad, anxious, empty, hopeless, helpless, worthless, guilty, irritable, angry, ashamed, or restless. Click here for more info

ASD – Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by varying challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.  Click here for more info

OCD – Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), or behaviors that make them feel driven to do something (compulsions). Mindfulness  –  Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you’re mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judgment. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience.
